Due to a software error in the voltage converter of the auxiliary on-board electrical system, communication may be interrupted during vehicle diagnosis with a diagnostic tool at a service center. If this damages the function of the voltage converter, it may prevent the voltage converter from charging the 12V auxiliary battery during subsequent vehicle operation. In such cases, the ESP and ABS functions may not operate normally, potentially increasing the risk of an accident, which has led to a recall
